Google Business Profile for Builders: A Setup Checklist

For local trade searches, your Google profile is often more important than your website. Here is how to get it right.

Pick the primary category carefully

Your primary category has the strongest influence on which searches you appear in. Choose the one that matches the work you want most, then add secondary categories for the rest.

Set a realistic service area

Listing the whole county dilutes you. List the towns you genuinely travel to and would happily quote in.

Add real photographs, regularly

Jobs in progress, finished work, your vans, your team. Fresh photographs signal an active business.

Ask for reviews at the right moment

The best time is the day the job is signed off and the customer is happy. A short message with a direct link gets far more responses than a verbal ask.
